Hayung and Jun Engagement - Downtown San Francisco, Ferry Building, Baker Beach
Posted November 27th, 2008 in Lifestyle / EngagementHayung and Jun both grew up in San Francisco, and what stood out in my mind when I first met with them was the story of how they met. They both attended the same middle school and high school, but it wasn’t until their senior year when their paths finally crossed. As they say, the rest was history.
They are getting married this coming March at St. John’s Presbyterian Church. For their engagement shoot, they had asked for us to incorporate the architectures of San Francisco. We started out around the Transamerica building and the neighborhoods nearly - it was the perfect backdrop with serene alleyways, weathered brick facades, and funky storefronts. But more importantly, they were both fun, playful, and absolutely lit up in front of the cameras. All around it was just a great experience working with both of them!
Congratulations once again, good luck with all the renovations, and we look forward to this coming March!

Evan - Baby Shoot
Posted November 26th, 2008 in Lifestyle / EngagementOh my goodness, I was completely exhausted after chasing Evan around for 2 hours straight. We shot this at the local park, and he was running circles all around me. Seriously, 2 hours straight! I needed a nap after that shoot…

Branden’s First Birthday!
Posted November 16th, 2008 in Lifestyle / EngagementBranden is one year old! I still remember not too long ago when Lauren wore the shirt “Big Sister” - it was Sean and Janet’s way of telling us they were expecting a 2nd child. I remembered him lying on his back and learned to kick himself forward. Later, he crawled across our living room with a single arm. For a while, he learned to stand but couldn’t sit himself down. He loved food - both eating and playing in it. He was always curious, always observing everything around him. And now, he is one, time flies!
Lots of friends, family, and kids came to celebrate Branden’s first birthday - given the proximity to Halloween, kids came prepared (okay, so it was the parents) in their color customs!
Always a wonderful feast for the kid’s birthdays! Wouldn’t be a Taiwanese tradition without the pork knuckles and noodles!

Birthday Boy himself!!

And his friends

I think all the kids couldn’t figure out why all the adults were so excited about them sitting in a row…

And the happy family!

Maureen and Wilson Wedding: Acqua Hotel, Mill Valley
Posted November 7th, 2008 in Slideshow, WeddingHas it really been 4 weeks since my last post? It’s been crazy the last few weeks as we moved ourselves across town - and it was very clear to us we had accumulated way too much “stuff”! As we unpack in the coming weeks, we will be looking for ways to seriously “downsize”… Anyone looking for a used snowboard and boots (mens size 10), Japanese-style curtains, and heaps of candles?
We shot Maureen and Wilson’s wedding last month just before we started packing up the house for the move. Their day started with Wilson and his brothers picking up the bride and her sisters at their house. In the past, I’ve shot some interesting games and roadblocks the sisters/bridesmaids put in the way of the groom and his entourage before meeting the bride, but this was truly unique and, well, challenging! Nevertheless, Wilson and his brothers carried on with a big grin the whole time!
The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Acqua Hotel in Mill Valley.
Thank you Maureen and Wilson, and Congrats once again!

I love this image from the tea ceremony - there’s always something beautiful about the act of putting jewelry on a bride to get her ready for the big day.

Another beautiful moment as everyone put the final touches

I love the lighting in this image. I found the angle at the end of the hallway, as if there was a giant spotlight on them.

Such a lovely moment as the Maureen gave Wilson a quick kiss of encouragement.
