Vivien and Nathan’s Wedding - Hotel Sofitel, Redwood City
Posted December 16th, 2008 in Slideshow, WeddingIt’s been an amazing year, and we are down to the last wedding of the year! Vivien and Nathan thoughtfully planned their wedding on the weekend of Thanksgiving to be able to spend more time with family and friends as many had traveled from afar. Both the wedding ceremony and the reception were held at Hotel Sofitel in Redwood City.
The day started with the traditional “pick up the bride” games where Nathan and his groomsmen were subjected to a series of challenges. The games revolved around “diapers” - watch the slideshow at the end, it was hilarious! For the bridal portrait session, we made our way over to the sidewalks of Oracle as well as the new Redwood City library. The library provided some very interesting architectural angles and colorful backdrops, and the artificial lake behind the library allowed me to create a beautiful silhouette of Vivien and Nathan against dramatic clouds and clear blue sky.
Congratulations Vivien and Nathan, and thank you for allowing us to be part of your day!

Her eyes just tell the story of her anticipation and the careful preparation for the day

This about sum it for Nathan - fun, energetic, and loving life!

Oh yeah, a bit of male bonding experiences

Did I fool you into thinking this was at Lake Tahoe?

I love the expression of the groom’s brother on the left - lost and utterly confused…

One of my favorites of the day - the bride wiping away a few tears from the speech. The lighting consist of videographer’s light from the left, external flash to the right for separation, and a bit of bounced flash off the ceiling to fill the rest.

I love this shot captured by our assistant photographer Albert! Great catch!

San Jose Sharks Practice
Posted December 5th, 2008 in EventI don’t why I hadn’t done this sooner, but I went down to the San Jose Logitech Ice Center to watch the Sharks practice this morning. They just came off their victory last night, the best first 26-game record (45 points) in NHL history. It was a nail biter as they looked flat especially early on in the game.
I didn’t know what to expect or how crowded it would be. Turned out it was a pretty slow day with just a handful of folks in the bleachers. The players were mostly just messing around, generally having a good time on the ice. It was great to see some of them up close, really got to appreciate their sizes and the intensity they must bring night after night. They did some one-timer drills at the end, and it was just amazing to see it up close and in person - the speed, the accuracy, and the loud crack when the stick struck the ice/puck.

Dan Boyle - why would you want to mess with this guy?

Jumbo Joe!

Just chilling? Whatever happened to the work ethics?

Douglas Murray

Mike Grier

Patrick Marleau

Devin Setoguchi

Yo Devin, shouldn’t you keep your eyes on the puck, quit checking out the bleacher!
