Berkeley Engagement Photography - A day in the lives of Cindy and Paul
Posted February 3rd, 2010 in Lifestyle / EngagementIt has been over a month and a half since our last blog post - I have been helping Peggy update photos and content on her wedding invitation and stationery website: olio style. Check out what’s new, both her website and her blog - her work was recently featured in Grace Ormande!
When Cindy and Paul first told me about their ideas about this engagement shoot, I couldn’t be more thrilled! Instead of traditional portraiture, they wanted us to capture a “typical” day in their lives. While the idea was simple enough, it took meticulous planning and execution - details such as pajamas, coffee mugs, contents of the picnic basket, and the evening gown were all well planned in advance. Also, what made these images special was the fact they were not shy about being themselves in front of our lenses - the laughter and joy was genuine and contagious. We had so much fun, we can’t wait until your wedding in March!
Don’t forget to check out the slideshow near the bottom of the post. Note the little twist towards the end - when I was processing these images, I was reminded of a particular movie. I inserted its theme music into the slideshow, recognize it?

Palace of Fine Arts and Downtown San Francisco Engagement Photography: Kayla and James
Posted September 19th, 2009 in Lifestyle / EngagementThis was a great session - often the best images came when they thought we had stopped shooting. They were funny, playful, and never stopped teasing each other. Congratulations, and we look forward to your wedding next month!

Downtown San Francisco and Baker Beach Engagement Photography - Michelle and Randy
Posted August 9th, 2009 in Lifestyle / EngagementWe returned to the financial district around Transamerica Pyramid for Michelle and Randy’s engagement session. The 2nd half of the session was done at Baker Beach, and by the end of the session, we were shooting in almost complete darkness. Michelle insisted on the “Karate Kid” pose, and credits to Randy for trying his best to maintain his balance!

Palo Alto Engagement Photography - Joyce and Kevin
Posted July 20th, 2009 in Lifestyle / EngagementIf you’ve driven along Highway 280 in Palo Alto, you’ve probably seen stretches and stretches of open fields. We told Joyce and Kevin to “wear comfortable shoes” and that we may need to “hike a bit”. So…off the beaten path we went.
Joyce and Kevin - Thanks for trekking through all the weeds with us, and we can’t wait for your wedding in two weeks!

Keryun & Duke Engagement - San Francisco Ferry Building, Baker Beach, and Presidio
Posted March 14th, 2009 in Lifestyle / EngagementFunny enough, Duke and I actually went to school together (although he’s the same year as Peggy), and years ago we used to play golf together (back when I had free weekends!). When they reached out to us for their upcoming wedding, Peggy and I were thrilled!
There was great chemistry between Duke and Keryun, and I noticed that right away when I met them both last month. She’s free spirited and always carried a smile no matter what - it was infectious, we had so much fun spending the afternoon with them both!
Also, I finally had a chance to shoot in the “forest” of Presidio - I had found a perfect spot in the Presidio where from the right angle, it seemed as if you were in middle of a forest (with cars zooming right by it!).
